It brings to mind the words of Reverend Samuel Billy Kyles, the only person who was with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis at the moment of Dr. King's assassination on April 4th, 1968.
For many years Billy Kyles wondered why he was there.
"Why was I there at that crucial moment in history, at the death of Martin Luther King ? I was troubled by that, I knew there was more than coincidence, I just didn't know what".
He said that over the years, "God revealed to me why I was there: Crucifixions have to have witnesses. And so I was there to be a witness.”
Perhaps I too am a witness.
"The Witness from the Balcony of Room 306" is a moving testimony which I watch again every few months.

One man come in the name of love One man come and go One man come he to justify One man to overthrow In the name of love What more in the name of love In the name of love What more in the name of love One man caught on a barbed wire fence One man he resist One man washed up on an empty beach One man betrayed with a kiss | In the name of love What more in the name of love In the name of love What more in the name of love Early morning April four Shot rings out in the Memphis sky Free at last They took your life They could not take your pride In the name of love What more in the name of love In the name of love What more in the name of love | |
